As a versatile filmmaker and photographer, he’s dedicated to crafting compelling community videos. Matty’s creative journey has led him to collaborate with renowned artists, resulting in interpretive dance films showcased in art galleries.
Since the age of 8, Matty’s love for dance and performance has driven him to remarkable stages. He’s shared these stages with celebrated artists like Baker Boy at iconic events including Splendour in the Grass, Blues Fest, Falls Fest, and many more. His performances with baker boy have extended to opening acts for notable figures like 50 Cent, John Butler, and Dizzee Rascal.
Matty’s also has big interest in music. He toured as a lead guitarist for artist KIAN, performing at notable gatherings like Big Sound and is also an avid creator of original guitar compositions. In his previous role, he facilitated dance workshops and orchestrated community music videos, traversing diverse Indigenous remote communities throughout Australia . His connection with Groote Eylandt dates back to 2018 when he visited while conducting dance workshops and collaborating with Bush Fit Mob. This early experience left an indelible mark, and he knew that one day he would return.
Taking on this role with Bush Fit Mob reflects his aspirations share his artistic skills and also to learn from the traditional owners. During this journey, he’s dedicated to passing down his expertise to the younger generation, nurturing a potential pathway to the creative and arts industry.
